Principle Environment and Lighting Artist

Developed and drove the look and feel of the execution of zones through asset creation in collaboration with design and concept art teams.

  • Modeled and textured natural environment assets used in the game including: terrain texture sets, clutter and models such as trees, plants, rock formations, water surfaces and visual effects

  • Layout, world building, sculpting and set dressing of multiple full zones

  • Provided style guides, training and pipeline improvements in the creation of zones and art assets

  • Created all sky-domes and lighting for the game as well as led a team of artists locally and remotely in world lighting for all zones

  • Designed and collaborated with engineering in the creation of the game's lighting system and proprietary editors

  • Collaborated with engineering in the improvement and bug-fixing of proprietary world editor (Atlas)

Asset Creation

Below is just a small sampling of some of the assets I created while at Mythic Entertainment. I was responsible for owning the design, modeling and texturing about 75% of the games natural assets; including the following:

  • Terrain textures and materials, including all "clutter" models

  • Skies; including 24hr time of day global lighting, sky textures, celestial bodies and weather effects

  • Foliage and flora; including trees and plants

  • Rocks, terrain formation (ledges cliff, bluff, overhang meshes) and natural caves

  • All water surface textures, materials and animation

  • Zone color schemes, mood and palette

  • Design and training of natural art asset world composition and terrain sculpting direction for all zones
